COMMUNITY TRANS NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL PROFILE
School Background
Community Trans Nursery and Primary School was started by Mission Harvest Ministries in 2013 with a goal of reaching out to the humble and marginalized childrenof ages 3 and above, to enable them access a safe, nurturing, learning environment filled with appropriate learning activities. It started with a total number of 54 children and the number has kept on growing and now it has a total number of 436 learners.
How it came into existence.
After taking a careful observation and study of the levels of education and its availability in our community, it was observed that there was a big gap in regard to access of quality and affordable education especially for the children from marginalized and humble families. As a result, Mission Harvest ministries Uganda began the above school to help address the plight of the ever growing educational demands of children from such families.
OBJECTIVES / GOALS OF THE SCHOOL
-To enable the leaner’s access quality and affordable education especially the humble and marginalized children.
-To produce well nurtured and disciplined children for a better generation.
-To combat the ever increasing levels of school dropout in our area.
-To educate and produce God fearing Children to the enhancement and propagation of God’s word.
LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL.
The school is located in Uganda East Africa , Iganga District,Iganga Municipality in the Nothern Division, Igamba Village, Bikado zone, on Mulondo Road.
PRESENT ENROLLMENT
Currently, the school has a total enrollment of 436 pupils.
TEACHING STAFF
The school has a total number of 13 qualified and experienced teaching staff and 4 memebers of the non teaching staff.
ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR
-The school has attracted more learners hence increasing the number of pupils to 436.
-The school has gained recognition and good reputation in the community.
-The academic performance of the learners has tremendously improved.
-The school has acquired land for expansion.
-The school has been able to put up some temporary structures to accommodate the ever increasing numbers of children.
-The school has installed a reliable safe source of drinking water for the children.
-The school has actively participated in the co-curricular activities like sports, music and drama
CHALLENGES
-Due to the poverty levels in the community, some children cannot afford to pay for their feeding at school.
-Some children cannot afford to pay school fees and to acquire the necessary school requirements.
-Since the school is not fenced, children easily escape from school.
-The school facilities like furniture, class rooms and other learning aids are inadequate.
-Absenteeism and dropping out of school due failure to meet school requirements
WAY FORWARD
-Since the school enrollment is ever increasing, there is need to construct permanent structures.
-There is need to fence off the school to stop children from escaping from school and interfering with the neighbourhood.
-There is need for helping some children especially those who cannot afford to pay for their school fees and other personal and scholastic materials.
-There is need to construct more sanitary facilities like Toilets to ensure a health and clean environment for the learners.
-There is need to put up safety gadgets such as lightening arresters and fire extinguishers etc.
-There is need to build the capacity of the teaching staff by enabling them to go for further studies and refresher trainings
The benefits aimed at includes:
- Exposure to books,
- Time to practice socialization skills with peers
- Exposure to a variety of art supplies and medium and strengthen fine motor muscles and creativity
- Learn to play cooperative games
- Practice being away from Mom and Dad and learn to relate to other adults of the teaching and non teaching staff.
Classes inc lude:
Nursery Section - Baby Class, Middle and Top
Primary Section - Primary one to Primary Seven
Classes are kept to a low student-teacher ratio and often fill up quickly.
Subjects taughts: We follow the Uganda National Curriculum for both sections.
